"We are a diverse
group committed to creating a cohousing ecovillage that fosters a
cooperative sense of community, shares and conserves resources to live
more lightly on the earth, and supports each others' growth, well-being
and joy."
Welcome to Montpelier
Cohousing!
We
are creating a cohousing neighborhood of 12-16 homes in Montpelier,
Vermont. We envision owning our individual homes, clustered on a small
portion of the site. We will also share a central common house with
such facilities as a large kitchen, dining area, and social room.
Architectural design will be focused on the values of our community:
sustainability, affordability, and aesthetic integration into the
surrounding area. Most of the site will be reserved as open space and
for permaculture.
We
use a consensus decision making process, based on the principles of
empathetic communication, and have all appropriate organizational and
legal structures in place for our project. We have an option on a
beautiful 10-acre site with stunning views of the Green Mountains, just
1.5 miles from the town center, the capital of Vermont.

Regular monthly meetings of Montpelier
Cohousing are at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.
Meetings take place in the Unitarian Church of Montpelier on Main
Street.
In addition, we have committee meetings
for working on particular topics, and also monthly potlucks for
welcoming and orienting interested parties and new members.
If
you are interested in attending a meeting, please speak with any member
or contact Christie Sternbach-Feist, Membership and
Outreach.
